Seismic Interpretation and Inversion Leading to an Accurate Reservoir Characterization in a Carbonate Environment

چکیده

Seismic data acquired in the field show subsurface reflectors or horizon among geological strata, while seismic inversion converts this reflector information into acoustic impedance section which shows layer properties based on lithology. The research aims to predict porosity identify reservoir is between tight layer. So, output of much more batter than as it closer reality such geology. frequently used determine rock physics properties, for example, and porosity.

Reservoir characterization via time-lapse prestack seismic inversion

Diierencing of time-dependent seismic monitor surveys requires that datasets are collected and processed consistently. Inconsistencies can result in data diierence noise great enough to obscure any reservoir changes. Inversion applied to each dataset may account for some of these inconsistencies. As an example, if the shape, temporal location, or radiation pattern of the seismic energy source i...

A Review of Reservoir Rock Typing Methods in Carbonate Reservoirs: Relation between Geological, Seismic, and Reservoir Rock Types

Carbonate reservoirs rock typing plays a pivotal role in the construction of reservoir static models and volumetric calculations. The procedure for rock type determination starts with the determination of depositional and diagenetic rock types through petrographic studies of the thin sections prepared from core plugs and cuttings. In the second step of rock typing study, electrofacies are deter...

Evaluating Different Approaches to Permeability Prediction in a Carbonate Reservoir

Permeability can be directly measured using cores taken from the reservoir in the laboratory. Due to high cost associated with coring, cores are available in a limited number of wells in a field. Many empirical models, statistical methods, and intelligent techniques were suggested to predict permeability in un-cored wells from easy-to-obtain and frequent data such as wireline logs. The main obj...

3-D Seismic Attribute Study For Reservoir Characterization Of Carbonate Buildups Using A Volume-Based Method

Introduction And Geologic Overview The Upper Jurassic (Oxfordian) Smackover Formation is a stratigraphically complex carbonate formation, and a major producer of hydrocarbons in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico (Baria et al., 1982; Salvador, 1991). The main reservoir facies in the Smackover Formation are the microbial reefs, which were formed in a gently sloping to distally steepened carbonate r...

Seismic Data Preconditioning for Improved Reservoir Characterization (Inversion and Fracture Analysis)

Advanced seismic techniques such as prestack inversion or azimuthal analysis are now routinely adopted for quantitative reservoir characterization of rock properties and fracture indicators, however the quality of the input seismic data is critical to such advanced analyses. Frequency content, random and coherent noise, amplitude-preserving processing and gather flatness must be addressed at th...
